    About Me

A Lifelong Curiosity About the Body, Healing & Human Resilience

My path into holistic healthcare began very early — and it has shaped everything about the way I practice today.

Rachel Evans, holistic wellness practitioner in Calgary, Alberta
    The Beginning

My path into holistic healthcare began very early

I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and from a young age I was fascinated by the human body — how it works, how it heals, and the many ways our physical and emotional experiences can influence our wellbeing. I was also naturally drawn to alternative and complementary approaches to health, which ultimately led me to pursue massage therapy immediately after high school.

In 2000, I graduated from the Therapeutic Massage program at Mount Royal College and began what has now become a career spanning more than 25 years.

For much of my early career, I specialized in therapeutic and deep tissue massage. I believed that if tissue was tight or restricted, deeper pressure was often the answer.

But over the years, something began to change.

    The Shift

    From Force to Listening

After thousands of hours of working with people's bodies, my hands became increasingly sensitive to subtle changes in tissue, tension, movement, and response.

I began to realize that more pressure did not necessarily create better results. In fact, I often found the opposite.

The more I learned to listen through my hands rather than impose change on the body, the more I discovered that gentle, precise work could sometimes create a much deeper response.

That realization gradually changed the way I practiced. I began incorporating more myofascial release, craniosacral techniques, nervous system work, and gentle therapeutic approaches into my treatments. My work became less about forcing the body to change and more about creating the conditions in which the body could begin to release and reorganize on its own.

That philosophy continues to shape the way I work today.

The body is always communicating. My role is to learn how to listen.

    A Difficult Chapter

    Life on the West Coast

Although Calgary has always been home, I spent 15 years living on the West Coast of British Columbia, primarily between North Vancouver and Victoria.

During those years, my life was deeply intertwined with my former husband's career in law enforcement. I became his primary support system through many of the demands and stresses that accompanied that work. Which took its toll on us both.

After 24 years together, our marriage ended abruptly.

The experience was profoundly destabilizing and became one of the most difficult periods of my life. It challenged my understanding of myself, my future, and many of the things I believed were permanent.

It also changed the direction of my work.

    A New Understanding

    Discovering Clinical Hypnotherapy

During that period, I discovered Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Working with a gifted clinical hypnotherapist gave me an entirely new understanding of the subconscious mind, emotional patterns, trauma, and the extraordinary capacity we have to create change from within.

Together with the unwavering support of my parents, hypnotherapy helped me navigate that chapter of my life and begin rebuilding from a place that initially felt impossible.

The experience affected me so deeply that I knew I wanted to learn how to offer that kind of support to others.

I couldn't simply leave more than two decades of working with the body behind. Nor did I want to. Instead of choosing between mind and body, I began to see how naturally they belonged together.

As I progressed through my training, I initially imagined moving into an entirely new profession. But I quickly realized something important: my years as a massage therapist had taught me too much about the way people hold stress, emotion, protection, and experience within their bodies. Hypnotherapy was teaching me about the subconscious mind, while my hands-on work had given me a deep appreciation for the nervous system and the body's subtle responses.

    The Foundation

    Where Mind & Body Meet

That realization became the foundation of Harmonic Holistic Healing.

Today, my approach brings together more than two decades of hands-on therapeutic experience with an evolving understanding of the nervous system, subconscious mind, biofeedback, frequency-based approaches, and somatic healing.

Rather than seeing these as separate areas, I view them as different ways of listening to the same person.

The goal is not to apply as many therapies as possible. It is to understand the individual in front of me and choose an approach thoughtfully.

    My Philosophy

    Curiosity rather than assumption

I don't believe wellness is one-size-fits-all. Two people can experience similar concerns and arrive there through completely different histories, stressors, injuries, emotional experiences, and patterns.

That is why I believe in looking at the whole person. My approach is grounded in curiosity rather than assumption. I listen. I observe. I look for patterns. And together, we explore what may best support your individual needs.

    01

    Every recommendation is personalized

Nothing is generic. Your plan is shaped around your history, your nervous system, and your goals.

    02

    Every treatment plan is individualized

Care is built one session at a time, responsive to how your body responds and what it asks for next.

    03

Every client is seen as a whole person

We listen to the whole of you — not a symptom in isolation — and support the way you heal.

After more than 25 years of working with people, one of the greatest lessons my career has taught me is that the body often responds most profoundly when it feels safe enough to stop protecting itself.

Sometimes healing requires intervention. Sometimes it requires understanding. And sometimes it begins simply by creating enough stillness to listen.

    The Name

    Why Harmonic Holistic Healing

The word harmonic represents something that has become central to my understanding of wellness: restoring greater coherence and balance between the many parts of ourselves — the physical body, nervous system, subconscious mind, emotional experiences, environment, and the patterns we carry with us.

My goal at Harmonic Holistic Healing is not simply to provide treatment. It is to create a thoughtful, individualized experience that recognizes those connections and respects the whole person.

Understanding is the first step toward healing.

I believe that when people understand themselves more deeply, they become empowered participants in their own path to wellness.
